War 2 Box Office Shock: Day 1 Falls Short, But Day 2 Twitter Buzz Surges

War 2 came out with huge expectations. I mean, it had Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR together, plus it’s part of YRF’s Spy Universe. Everyone was expecting the opening day to cross ₹150 crore worldwide. But on day one, the numbers didn’t quite hit that mark. Instead, the worldwide gross was around ₹90 crore. Not bad, but definitely below what many thought it would be.

Now here’s where things get interesting. On day two, Hindi bookings actually went up quite a bit, probably helped by the Independence Day holiday. But Telugu bookings didn’t see the same bump and, to make things more confusing, the number of shows reportedly dropped in some places. So fewer shows but better bookings in Hindi, and steady or lower bookings in Telugu.

Meanwhile, Twitter was a totally different story. Suddenly, there were tons of posts saying the movie isn’t just okay, but actually a hit. Fans and some industry folks were tweeting that the first day reviews were wrong, and War 2 is worth watching. So, what’s going on here? Is this sudden positivity on social media real or maybe just a bit of hype pushing?

Well, it looks like a bit of both. Some people genuinely liked the film more than expected once they saw it, especially the second half. But when you compare that to the booking numbers, especially in Telugu markets, it’s clear the buzz wasn’t matching the actual audience turnout everywhere. Plus, the drop in show counts hints that theaters were preparing for less demand, at least in some areas.

So is this Twitter push fake? It might not be fully fake, but it’s likely helped along by fans and maybe even marketing teams working to keep the momentum going. That’s pretty common these days. When the opening isn’t as strong, there’s often an effort to turn the conversation around online.

At the end of the day, the bookings show the real business, and those numbers stayed mixed on day two. Hindi audiences seemed more optimistic, Telugu audiences less so. The positive vibes on Twitter are definitely real to some extent but don’t tell the complete story on their own.
